We just spent two fabulous days with Eric Dempsey, touring counties Wicklow and Wexford. He was much more than a birding guide! He shared local history, stopped for taking pictures, and took us to a mall to buy shirts and clean underwear (no..no luggage yet, or maybe ever).
He was an expert bird guide and took us to some amazing places. And as for the Craic, no, it isn’t a drug! It’s Irish for talking, laughing, telling tales and having a good time, and we had two wonderful days of that. Eric gave us an amazing introduction, not just to Irish birds, but to his beloved country. (which included Gary’s first Guiness . . . I think he likes it!)
Here’s Eric:

Just a few birding pictures. The swans are everywhere:

This is the largest breeding colony of Roseate Terns in Western Europe. You’d never know by this picture that they are endangered.

And finally, these mind-blowing places are tucked everywhere as you drive down the road. Notice the arrow slits in the castle ruins!

We are off to explore Dublin by foot and bus.
I hope you’re having a great beginning to the summer. I am LOVING your comments; thanks!

Boy – they weren’t exaggerating about the green! It’s just gorgeous…..
Anxiously awaiting the next installment.
Tell Gary there were people in my past who swore that Guinness was a “complete food”.
Tell him not to be fooled!
Guess what? Things are exactly the same here.

Dempsey – a good Irish name. The weather looks sunny, too.
I downloaded the pic with the meadow and the old tower and it’s now on my Windows Desktop – thanks! That’s a great shot…
Hugs to both of you!
